A little thing about Scott Howell
Washington Fly Tyer, Scott (Scotty) Howell, passed away January 26, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. He had an extraordinary talent for creating flies that are almost perfect, remarkably colorful and incredibly detailed. They are beautiful flies to look at, but still so fishable. If you have never seen his flies before, you did not know what you were missing. The entire into two sections selected 11 pattern are original tied by Scott Howell.
Original source: By my restless search for new pattern I have found his flies and the descriptions at http://www.angelfire.com/wa/salmonid/contributor14a.html.

- Red for Red’s
- Possibility for small and sparkle tying
Pattern series “Normal conditions”

Selected “Normal conditions” pattern:
Pattern series “Special conditions”
The “special conditions” means, that this pattern are used under special conditions like bright warm and sunny days, crystal clear and low water or difficult shy-fish situations.
Selected “Special conditions” pattern:
Conclusion
All of these patterns have no guarantee of success. Following two basic terms are observed:
- “Too pretty to fish” doesn’t exist!
- Only the fish decides…
